- Mr Burns' Birthday occurs, but even with his millions of dollars and vast collection of items, one thing that he longs for is a childhood toy: a teddy bear he once had named Bobo.
After he abandoned the bear after he was adopted by a cruel, heartless millionaire, the bear eventually ended up somehow being frozen in the antarctic, where some men collecting ice to be sold in stores eventually included it in one of their shipments. The bag of ice is bought by Bart, who gives the bear to Maggie.
Mr Burns puts out a request for anyone who can find the bear, and when the Simpson family realizes they have it, Homer attempts to trade it for a profit. However, he changes his mind when he sees how attached to Bobo Maggie has become.
Burns is determined to get the bear back at any cost, and stops all television signals and beer shipments to Springfield until he gets Bobo back. This leads to an angry mob beating down the Simpsons door, who attempt to take the bear back. However, upon seeing Maggie's saddened expression, they give her back the bear and leave.
Burns comes calling again, but Homer explains that he needs to talk to Maggie regarding the bear. Burns attempts to ask nicely, before attempting to take it. Finding Maggie unable to part with it, Burns then tells her to 'hang onto that bear...don't make the same mistake I did.' Seeing him sad, Maggie willingly gives Bobo back to Mr Burns.
Later on that evening, Burns snuggles in bed with Bobo, wondering what the future for both of them will bring.
The epilogue of the episode shows a world where apes have evolved from men. A group of them find Bobo under some rocks, but not before a robotic-body Mr Burns (with his head preserved in a glass jar) retrieves his bear, promising never to leave him behind again. As Mr Burns rushes off, we see Smithers tagging along, as a robotic dog with the man's head also in a liquid-filled jar.
