A Solid Simpsons Episode!
g-bodyl11 August 2014
This is the sixth episode of the third season of the Simpsons and while not as good as the previous two episodes, it is still rather enjoyable. While there may be a few laughs, the episode is not high on jokes. But the drama is there, and that makes for a surprisingly emotional episode. Father-son reunions sure do have a way of getting into my heart.

In this episode, "Like Father, Like Clown," we finally get to learn a little more about Krusty the Klown and his Jewish heritage. Krusty has been separated from his rabbi father for over 2 decades because his father did not approve of him being an comedian. Lisa and Bart decide to work together to reunite father and son.

Overall, this is a rather sentimental episode that is a little low on the laughs. I have come to expect laughter with the Simpsons, but I was moved by the episode and I guess I can call that a good thing, even though I have never been a favorite of Krusty the Klown. I rate this episode 8/10.

Krusty's journey

Warning: Spoilers
Jackie Mason (born Yacov Moshe Maza) is the guest voice of Rabbi Hyman Krustofski, the father of Krusty the Klown. Like Father, Like Clown is part of the golden era of The Simpsons which in my humble opinion is the first 10 seasons although some episodes beyond that are worthy of viewing.

Anyway, Like Father, Like Clown is moving in a way and dwells upon the idea of a father not approving of his son's career move, and how that has impacted on Krusty's psyche and all where he tries to be funny beyond the sadness of being rejected by his father and all, but thankfully Lisa and Bart work to reunite them.

A Krusty Foundation
Hitchcoc16 April 2022
This is an odd episode. Krusty spends the evening with his main hero worshipper, Bart. While there he breaks down and begins to talk about a tragic Jewish childhood. The rest of the episode involves Bart and Lisa attempting reconciliation between Krusty and his rabbi father.

Another Krusty episode
MarkLynnIreland129425 June 2022
At least this is one episode giving more on Krusty the clown, like his name: Herschel Krustofsky, and his Jewish heritage.

For most of the episode, it's hard not to choke up with Krusty breaking down over his reminiscent of his estranged rabbi father who disowned him (much deserved in EastEnders' Ian and Steven Beale) and then the ending of their reconciliation. I'm not knowledgeable about Jewish community, yet I wouldn't know how much time it took for Bart and Lisa convince Hyman that entertainers are part of Jewish community and Sammy Davis Jr.

Another of Bart and Lisa teamwork abilities just like foiling Sideshow Bob schemes - speaking of which, Krusty's secretary gives Krusty reality check on his fan Bart Simpson - who helped exonerate Krusty after being framed for armed robbery by Sideshow Bob - yet, came after the trial verdict. If Krusty hadn't dinner with Bart, then wouldn't have this episode.
