A brisk adaptation of The Greek Interpreter with a change of nationality.
Apart from a comedic opening when Dr Watson goes looking for Sherlock Holmes in a snooty club.
This has a sinister edge to it. A type of mystery that would arouse Sherlock's interest.
Claude Dubec is the French interpreter who has an unusual assignment. He was taken at gunpoint and travelled for two hours with the blinds drawn of the carriage he was in.
When he went inside to a house. There was a man tied up. He could only speak French and Dubec has translate the words. Over time Dubec managed to glean some more information.
It was a well paid job but Dubec was told that if he mentioned this to anyone, he will be killed.
Holmes needs to find this man urgently and has to get Dubec to remember what he heard. It ends up being a race against time.
There was a nice bit of action at the end as one of the baddies is given an unexpected push.
