Pat Hazell, who plays the man in the other bed, was a consultant to the show in the first season and regularly did the audience warm-up. He appears once again later in the series, in episode 4.23, The Pilot (1993), playing the role of Pat Hazell.

Bob Sacamano is a fictional friend of Kramer (Michael Richards). He is never seen but is the source of many bizarre anecdotes. Larry Charles has stated that Sacamano was a real-life friend, although the two fell out shortly after the character was first introduced. Throughout the course of the series he was referenced in the following episodes:
When Tor reads the note from Jerry, he guesses it as a basketball score: "Cleveland 117, San Antonio 109." 28 years after this episode aired, that score became a reality on December 12, 2019, when the Cleveland Cavaliers did indeed defeat the San Antonio Spurs by a score of 117 to 109.
