- GoofsAn establishing shot of a DC-10, a large wide-body airliner, depicts Jerry's flight. But the following scene takes place in the first-class section of what looks like a much smaller jet.
- Quotes
Jerry Seinfeld: On my block, a lot of people walk their dogs, and I always see them walking along with their little poop bags, which to me is just the lowest function of human life. If aliens are watching this through telescopes, they're gonna think the dogs are the leaders. If you see two life forms, one of them's making a poop, the other one's carrying it for him, who would you assume was in charge?

Brilliant
Beckett had Godot, Cheers had Vera Peterson, Frasier had Maris Crane. For some reason, characters who never appear physically have a way of stealing all the accolades from those who are present. In this episode of Seinfeld, the whole thing is even more exceptional on account of the invisible character being... a dog!
No, it's not the dog Kramer showed in the pilot (that one never came back), but a canine Jerry is forced to take care of for a few days after its rightful owner, who was sitting next to him on a plane, needs to be hospitalized. Consequently, Jerry spends a week yelling at Farfle (who is never shown on-screen), and has no time to go to the movies with Elaine, who therefore decides to go with George and discovers too late the two of them have absolutely nothing to talk about, unless of course it involves making fun of their comedian friend. All of this is juxtaposed with Kramer's desperate attempts to break up with his new girlfriend Ellen - in short, one hell of a week for everyone involved!
The success of this story can be summed up in one word: Farfle. From the moment poor Gavin Polone (Joseph Maher) asks Jerry to look after the beast, the episode is completely hijacked by the unseen, but allegedly creepy pet. The only scene that comes even close to rivaling Farfle's anarchic energy is the one where Kramer dumps Ellen with very harsh words, only to beg her to take him back the next day. Of the many fine moments Michael Richards has in this season, those agonizing monologues have to be the best. Then again, his cult status is confirmed when Gavin asks if Jerry has any pets. "No.", he answers, "Just my next door neighbor.". Fabulous.
