The 1994 book "Saturday Night Live: The First Twenty Years" features a photograph of bulletin board in Lorne Michaels's ninth-floor office listing all the 19th season's hosts and musical guests at the time Alec Baldwin & Kim Basinger/UB40 (1994) was in production in the section called 'A Week in the Life of SNL'. It reveals that Marisa Tomei was already being considered as a host in the second half of season 19, as was Michael Richards.
In his 2004 memoir "Gasping for Airtime: Two Years in the Trenches of Saturday Night Live", Jay Mohr recounts that his sketch "Good Morning Brooklyn" was slated to make it's debut on this show as the first sketch post monologue. But, according to Mohr, Marisa Tomei decided she didn't want to do it after she learned that Mohr was just a featured player and not a full cast member.
The Stuart Smalley sketch with Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley was cut from the preceding week's season premiere. In that version, Janeane Garofalo played Lisa Marie Presley rather than Marisa Tomei.
