- While traveling along the Atlantic Florida coast, Tod and Linc decide to make a few day detour to help a damsel in distress and her male traveling companion, who they first meet when he is in a drunken state and in a fight at a drive-in restaurant first thing in the morning. He is twenty-four year old John Frank, a third rate boxer with the stage name Tank, she Gaybee, his childhood friend and manager who is more his protector. They are on their way to his next fight happening that night, but he is in no state to fight being drunk and having a possible concussion. Tod and Linc will learn that Tank and Gaybee have nothing, and live from fight to fight, which is the only thing he knows. As a child, he was deemed stupid due to a learning disability and speech impediment, that stutter which goes away when he's drunk. As such, he never learned to read or write, and is in a constant state of inebriation in order to cope. Gaybee loves him and tries to do what she feels is right for him within his circumstance. Linc is a little more willing to help in any way he can than Tod, but the two will have to decide how far they will go in their assistance and what is best to help them both in the short and long term.—Huggo
