Three regular characters are written out of the series in this first episode of the final season. Hassie, played by Lydia Reed, appears in the first scene, as Grampa, Luke, and Pepino see her off to college. Grampa later mentions that Little Luke, previously played by Michael Winkelman, has gone off to Army camp. Grampa also mentions that Luke is now a widower, which means Kate, previously played by Kathleen Nolan, has passed away between the 5th and 6th seasons.
This was the first episode broadcast on CBS.
Tina Louise plays Tilda Hicks who has her eyes set on newly widowed Luke McCoy. Louise would become a TV legend playing Ginger Grant on Gilligan's Island.
