Warning: Spoilers
This episode is important in the series. It marks a turning-point of sorts in the show as it introduces an important new character, right after actress Bea Bernaderet passed away in real-life. Bea portrayed the owner of the shady-rest hotel,Kate Bradley. She was a main character and her death was a huge loss for the show. The new character,"A lady MD that's as pretty as can be",goes by the name of Dr Janet Craig and is played by the fine actress June Lockhart. This episode has the good Doc arriving in town and toughing-out a rocky beginning with the local residents, who are skeptical of a lady doctor. She is surprised when a 'patient' requires her help supervising and assisting the birth of a cow ! The 'patient' appears to be none other than the man that was 'Otis' on Andy Griffith ! Madame Lockhart jumped into the show with both feet and did a fine job with the 46 episodes she was in.
