As it appeared that Bea Benaderet was healthy enough to return to the series at the outset of season six, the character of Aunt Helen (Rosemary DeCamp) was written off. Benaderet exhibited a slight weight gain in her appearance.
In contemplating names for the as yet unborn baby, the men wanted a "strong" presidential sounding name. Article II, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution sets the minimum age to be president of the United States at 35. This would mean a baby born in 1968 could not be president until 2003 and seek the presidency in the 2004 election, which was won by George W. Bush.
First appearance of Byron Foulger as Wendall Gibbs, engineer. Previously he had been seen as Mr Guerney, the bank manager.
