- [first lines]
- Della Street: [talking on the phone] Not even one damsel in distress. No, Perry, not even a book salesman. It's been more like a morgue around here than a law office all morning. Paul? No, he hasn't come in yet. Mm-hmm. Okay, I'll tell him. 'Bye.
- [last lines]
- [Paul starts pulling coins out of his pockets and putting them on Perry's desk]
- Perry Mason: Paul, what in the world are you doing?
- Paul Drake: Conducting my daily search.
- Della Street: Daily search?
- Paul Drake: To make sure that nobody's given me any, uh... wooden nickles.
- Howard Hopkins: Mason, do you realize with a flick of my finger I could ruin both you and your client?
- Perry Mason: For your sake, I hope you don't flick that finger, Mr. Hopkins. You'll find neither my client nor I ruin easily.
