- [Perry and Della return to the office after dinner. When they enter the inner office, they are surprised to see an aquarium with water, fish, and a functioning aerator on Perry's desk. Della opens and reads a note on the aquarium]
- Della Street: Dear Mr. Mason: This arrived while you were at dinner. Gertie.
- [Perry opens an envelope on top of the aquarium and reads the contents to Della]
- Perry Mason: I've arranged to have this delivered to show there are no hard feelings. Mr. Burger informs me, if I plead guilty, I'll be given life imprisonment. I understand the warden at San Quentin has an aquarium. What more can I ask? Darrell Metcalf.
