Quotes

  • Perry Mason : Could Jasper have killed Callender?

Paul Drake : Perry, he was only in there ten seconds.

Perry Mason : How long's it take to stick a sword into a man?

  • [last lines]

    [waiter gives Perry a package]

Perry Mason : [reading card]  "Just so you'll remember a grateful client, Lois. The real Cherie Chi Chi."

[Perry opens the package to find a feather fan]

Paul Drake : Well, you won't be needing me again. From now on, you'll be well-covered.

  • Perry Mason : It's going to be a rough one, Paul.

Paul Drake : Yeah. Particularly since Lois Fenton's got to be guilty.

Perry Mason : Well, I'm glad you're not going to be on the jury!

  • Perry Mason : Do you know what happens to little girls who lie to their lawyers? In murder cases, they end up in Death Row at San Quentin. Or if they happen to be nice-looking like you, they might have a fifty-fifty chance of making the women's prison at Tehachapi, cooped up in a cell with no makeup, the drab routine...

    Lois Fenton : Stop!

Perry Mason : I'm trying to get the truth!

Lois Fenton : You have it!

Perry Mason : Yes, I *have* had it! We're going to the police.

  • Perry Mason : [while watching Irene Kilby dancing on stage]  Definitely not Mexican.

    [Smirking]

Perry Mason : Wrong kind of eyes.

Della Street : [Sarcastically]  I can see you've been studying them.

  • Irene Kilby : Where are they?

Perry Mason : In my car.

Irene Kilby : They are my favorites! Such a beautiful balance.

    [standing up from her seat]

Irene Kilby : I'll send Harry out with you to pick them up. Thank you very much Mr. Mason!

[Leaning towards Perry and gave him a kiss]

Della Street : [Watching a numbed Perry eying Irene Kilby leaving from the table]  You haven't say a word since she kissed you.

Perry Mason : Didn't I say good night?

  • Perry Mason : [Speaking to Paul by phone]  And Paul, I have one other job for you. I want you to find a horse.

Paul Drake : A HORSE? Perry, for the love of Pete...

Perry Mason : A 7-year-old Palomino quarter horse.

Paul Drake : Why don't you go to bed like everyone else?

    [sighs; gets pencil and pad]

Paul Drake : Okay, it's a 7-year-old Palomino quarter horse, whatever that means.

  • Perry Mason : [Pulling ostrich feathers from trunk]  Aren't these ostrich feathers?

    Della Street : Somebody's wardrobe?

Perry Mason : Somebody with the initials "L.F."

[Pulling high heels out of trunk]

Perry Mason : These and the feathers are somebody's complete wardrobe.

Della Street : A fan dancer, maybe?

Perry Mason : Probably in El Centro or Calexico. The old lady must have been taking the fans to her.

Della Street : Then why'd she run off without them?

Perry Mason : Still in shock. We'll see that she gets her fans somehow. Wouldn't want Miss LF to catch pneumonia, would we?

  • Perry Mason : When did you get here?

Frank Faulkner : Oh 2:16, or maybe 2:17 this morning.

Perry Mason : We're fighting time just give me the highlights...

Frank Faulkner : Well I settled down at the broom closet at 2:20, 2:21. Sheldon came tailing at 511 and ducked in here. The elevator stopped 2:23 - You should've seen the dish that got out... she sort of drift down the hallway...

Perry Mason : Like a dancer?

Frank Faulkner : No! She was carrying a violin case. But she DIDN'T look like a violin player! Anyways, she goes into 511. I saw her leaving 10 minutes later at 2:32. Still carrying the violin case...

  • Arthur Sheldon : Where are they?

Perry Mason : In my car.

Arthur Sheldon : They are my favorites! Such a beautiful balance.

    [standing up from her seat]

Arthur Sheldon : I'll send Harry out with you to pick them up. Thank you very much Mr. Mason!

[Leaning towards Perry and gave him a kiss]

Della Street : [Watching a numbed Perry eying Irene Kilby leaving from the table]  You haven't say a word since she kissed you.

Perry Mason : Didn't I say good night?

  • Hamilton Burger : Are you now claiming that Arthur Sheldon killed John Callendar?

Perry Mason : I'm not claiming a thing. I'm just trying to get the defendant in this case acquitted. As far as the murder case is concerned, you are quite at liberty to solve it.
