Where's Elmer Gantry When You Need Him
Hitchcoc2 April 2023
When a man held in a Russian gulag can't be on Dick's show due to technical difficulties, out of work and depressed Michael jumps in to doo the show. Because he has nothing to say, he spouts some homespun philosophy, including forget about it and smile. The whole town, which, of course, is a pack of knuckleheads, sees him as a kind of messiah. He takes on the adulation and creates a new persona. People get all excited when they see him in person, so he decides to do a sort of evangelical thing with a white suit and a giddy smile. The problem is that with only three thing to say, he doesn't seem to be able to help people. It's entertaining for Michael's showmanship and panache. And, as usual, the townsfolk are pretty funny.

Michael becomes the town guru
Jimmy_the_Gent416 July 2018
Michael becomes a guest on Vermont Today and is a hit with towns people with his trite sayings.

A good episode for the town people and Michael. He has three sayings-Let It Go, Forget About It and Try Smiling. The people suddenly think he is a mystic and philosopher. The funniest scene is when he has a seminar, clad in a white suit and with smoke machines, he tries out his sayings again but the town (finally) figures out that's all he has.
