The voice at the end of the episode portraying a rescue person is that of Morty Drescher, Fran's real life father.
Fran tells Tommy that it's too bad he's only 14 and she's a full six years older than him (Fran is insinuating that she's only 20). The actor playing Tommy was actually 23 in this episode.
The title comes from the song "Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing" by Sammy Fain and Paul Francis Webster and from the movie of the same name.
The posters behind Fran and Val at the bus stop are for the Broadway plays "Smokey Joe's Cafe" and "Stomp", albeit with lots of graffiti on them.
