When Fran finds out that there might have been a switch at the hospital when she was born, she's anxious to meet the woman who may be her real mother. It turns out that it's the beautiful Telma Hopkins and Fran realizes that she might be half black. This sets Sylvia off until she finds out how rich Franz possible mother might be, and it's obvious how this ridiculous storyline is going to turn out. There's a flashback with Fran playing Sylvia when she was younger and thinner, and unfortunately, the two actresses playing young friend and her sister Nadine aren't very good. The script is also rather pandering, making it quite eye-rolling in spots as it fails miserably in its racial politics. The only truly funny moment comes when Niles finds out that C. C. might have to stay in L. A. Unfortunately young Fran comes back at the end.
