Oh what a tangled predicament Murphy finds herself in.

Warning: Spoilers
The usually dateless Murphy finds herself in a real twisted situation, first finding ex-husband Jake (Robin Thomas) in her office, and later, ex-lover Jerry (Jay Thomas) in a shark suit. These are the only two men that could silence Murphy with her passion for them, and now they both want a future with her. Murphy's feeling awkward for the first time in a long time because when her heart strings are plucked, she never knows what to say and even seems on the verge of tears because of the emotions she rarely has to face. It's the same for both of the men from her past, and as obnoxious as Jerry Gold was in earlier episodes, even he began to show a bit of humanity and love when out with Murphy. This three part arch takes Murphy into a soap opera like situation, and the emotional battles it will give her over her desire for true Independence and a beautiful relationship is very intriguing as we come to the end of the third season. It's also a difficult battle for the viewer to choose who is more suitable for her because we've seen her with both men, and they really bring out the best in her, not only as a woman but as a human being. So that's where this storyline becomes gripping, and imagine to watching this as a Monday night cliffhanger in 1991 and have to wait months to find out what she would decide to do. My pick is the sexy Jake, and only Murphy would inspire him to hire a violin player that knows "MacArthur Park". I sit here nearly 30 years after first seeing this in awe because the episode combines so many elements that creates great TV: humor, romance and suspense.
