A 25% cut in the budget of FYI thanks to the sale of the network threatens the quality of the show, and the staff is aghast. Nancy Youngblut plays the tough Barbara Boyle (even the name suggests toughness!) with very funny aggressiveness, and the fact that she's not a well known actress in the guest starring role makes more of an impact, giving the impression that this woman drinks coffee from sunrise to sunset. Murphy becomes very concerned as she sees invaluable staff members being laid off, and decides to take a risk by nipping Barbara in the boil. Anybody who has worked in an office that has dealt with corporate restructuring can identify with the over the top changes that are put into place here, showing that much research went into many of the plotlines on this show, not afraid of tackling big corporation in order to make strong points on inhumane treatment of very humane issues.
