This is Wayne & Wanda's last performance on the show together. Wanda won't be seen again after her performer Eren Ozker left the show to start her family, but Wayne will remain solo starting in Season 3. The duo will make a surprise appearance in Linda Lavin (1979), which reveals that Kermit had fired them for the first place.
The first episode in which more than one human appears, a rarity for the show.
On the DVD The Story of Mummenschanz (2003), Bernie Schürch recalls that originally, Gina Lollobrigida was planned as a guest star for season one. When she canceled, Jim Henson suggested Mummenschanz, whose performance he had seen in Geneva.
This is the only show in which Gonzo is in love with Miss Piggy. However, it would become a recurring character trait of his in Muppet Babies (1984).
This episode marks the debut of one of Gonzo's trademarks. Him rushing rapidly through the camera with a WHOOSH sound effect.
