- TriviaObsessed fan Marci Maven, played by Sarah Silverman, complains constantly about her favorite TV show's new theme song. This is a reference to the minor controversy that brewed among Monk fans over the introduction of the new theme song "It's a Jungle Out There" written and performed by Randy Newman in the second season of Monk.
Many fans have clamored for the return of the original theme song by Jeff Beal, even going as far as organizing letter-writing campaigns and petitions to USA Network demanding its return.
At the end of the show, Marci Maven asks Adrian Monk to promise that if he ever gets his own show, he won't ever change the theme song. When Monk agrees to the promise, the original theme song by Jeff Beal begins to play as the scene fades to credits.
- GoofsBrad is shown killing his ex-wife - surely any decent forensic officer could have found out that the blood spatter on his shirt and the floor wasn't consistent with him trying to help his wife. This being a high-profile case, a good blood-spatter analyst should have been consulted.

Monk on great form
Monk thinks the TV star did it, but of course it's impossible. Is Monk just prejudiced against the popular people, who left him out of parties since the 6th grade? He doesn't seem to have much else to go on.
Monk on great form here, with the whole team playing their parts, even Dr Kroger chipping in to make him feel inadequate. But irrespective of that, the whole thing is worth the price of entry thanks to the running gag about the change of theme tune in Crime Lab SF. What Randy Newman thought about it is unrecorded.
