The title refers to an armed military, police or terrorist squad that conducts extra-judicial killings of persons as part of a war or terror campaign and are conducted to keep secret the members of the squad.
The story takes place in a town named Cuidamo but the fictional (Spanish-speaking) country is never identified during the story. However, the name "San Raoul" can be seen on several vehicle license plates.
Outside of Jim Phelp's apartment, this show was the first and only time the private life of another IMF team member was revealed. Wearing a tuxedo and draped in a cape, Paris is seen entering his swank apartment after an apparent "night on the town" just as Phelps is ringing his telephone with the news about Barney.
Many of the scenes in the fictional Latin American town where this story takes place are actually redresses of the sets used in Mission: Impossible's "sister series," Mannix, which was also produced by Mission's creator, Bruce Geller. For example, Chief Corba's office is the same set used as Joe Mannix' office in his series, and the "town square" with a water fountain is the same area used in Mannix to depict Joe Mannix' office at 17 Paseo Verde.
