- Michael Anthony: [Anthony enters the African Room, where he is momentarily surprised, then smiles, to see Tipton, seated in a high backed chair at his desk, wearing a headdress. Viewers see Tipton from behind the chair with only his hands visible] You sent for me, sir?
- John Beresford Tipton: [Chuckles as he removes the headdress] I see it's enough to startle even you, Mike. This is the headdress of a witch doctor - one of the remote tribes in the Upper Zambezi. Ever seen one?
- Michael Anthony: Only pictures of them, sir.
- John Beresford Tipton: In the long run, it's just a mask, Mike. We all wear them in one form or another.
- Michael Anthony: Yes, Mr. Tipton.
- John Beresford Tipton: [Tipton hands an envelope to Anthony] Especially our next millionaire. You'll find him in a remote jungle called New York.
- [Anthony accepts the envelope and smiles]
- Michael Anthony: [to the viewers] Why Mr. Tipton chose Jerome Wilson to be his next millionaire, I never knew. But let me tell you his story.
- [first lines]
- Michael Anthony: [to the viewers] My name is Michael Anthony. At the last count, there were nineteen multibillionaires in this world. I was executive secretary to one of these men - John Beresford Tipton. As long as he lived, being anonymous was very important to Mr. Tipton. But now that he is dead, I can tell you of his fabulous hobby. He gave a million dollars to various people. This is Silverstone, his private estate of 60,000-acres. It has all of the conveniences of a large city, with the privacy he always demanded. I'll never forget one night he called me to his African Room. Yes, that's right, I said his African Room. Mr. Tipton had enough rooms in Silverstone to house every conceivable hobby. As I was saying, this particular night, I was called to his African Room.
- Jerome Wilson: [the scene is Wilson's boarding house room, where Wilson is staring at the check] A million bucks. Is this on the level, Anthony? A million bucks? Why me? Why a guy like me?
- Michael Anthony: I can't answer that question, Mr. Wilson.
- [Offering a document to Wilson]
- Michael Anthony: But once again, please sign this paper saying you won't reveal the source of your million-dollars to anyone except your wife, that is, if and when you're married.
- [Wilson gives Anthony a very suspicious look. Anthony answers emphatically]
- Michael Anthony: There are no hidden clauses, Mr. Wilson.
- Jerome Wilson: [as he prepares to sign the agreement] Hey, which name shall I use?
- Michael Anthony: Your legal name, of course.
- [Wilson signs]
