This story opens with what appears to be a routine undercover operation to catch a drug dealer during at his house party; things become far from routine though when they are interrupted by a group intending to rob the dealer; these weren't just a group of thugs though; they moved with military precision and had clearly been professionally trained; they don't however get the money. A police officer from another division was shot and killed during the raid so the police are determined to bring those responsible to justice. This looks as if it will be difficult as the evidence points towards the involvement of Zamora, an anti-Castro Cuban, who the FBI considers an important asset. With a cop dead they won't drop the case though; using the money recovered from the night before as bait Crockett approaches Zamora and tells him Tubbs has the money and he is quite happy to see him ripped off... this is in their Burnett and Cooper cover of course. When Crockett goes to meet him he learns what is going on; the money is wanted to fund an attack on a member of the Castro government who is going to be in Florida. If an international incident is to be avoided the police will have to go up against a small army!
After some fairly gritty episodes this one does feel slightly lighter... not too much lighter though. The story is pretty good, it is tense and there is plenty of great action with an impressive gun fight and a car getting blown up with a bazooka! It does suffer one thing that is common to most such series... everybody has already got over Zito's death to such an extent that he doesn't even get a mention. As always the acting from the main cast was pretty solid; overall a typical 'Miami Vice' episode that I'm sure fans of the show will enjoy.
