Producer Glen A. Larson, after meeting actor John S. Ragin in a restaurant, wrote him into this episode (playing a diplomatic functionary) as a screen test to become "Quincy"'s Dr. Robert Asten.
This episode was partially filmed in Morocco. Reports at the time indicate the crew got into a wee bit of trouble with His Majesty's Government and had to high-tail it out of the country.
John S. Ragin and Dennis Weaver previously worked together in an episode of Alfred Hitchcock's show Insomnia (1960).
The preview before the opening credits starts with two clips from the Miss American Beauty Contest. When these two shots are seen again in the story proper, they are now shown on a TV screen instead of full screen.
