Two oddballs, one case. Ben like a fish out of water in different settings.

Warning: Spoilers
A popular radio DJ is killed. His DJ partner is framed and Ben becomes his lawyer.

In this one, Ben partners up with a cop, Pat Poletti. She's kind of an oddball weirdo. She and Ben are hilarious as they are very opposite personalities.

Love how Pat then kept spilling drinks on Matlocks suit. And you know how he loves his suits. Then later her mother did it too. Lol.

I kind of agree with another user that Pat's Italian family was very cliche. They were very ott.

Ben's reactions in that nightclub were hilarious. He's definitely not used to places like that, whereas Pat is very comfy there.

I thought the murderer did a good job feigning grief and cluelessness about what happened. But then she gave it up really fast when she was being questioned by Pat at the police station. It became obvious that she killed the man. She wasn't even hiding it really. Seemed odd as this is what lead Pat and Ben to be sure she did it and continue their pursuit of her. She may as well have worn a sign saying she did it.

Ben was really uncomfortable when he visited Sharon at her home she is wearing nothing but a bikini and asked him to rub suntan lotion on her back. Again, Ben's facial expressions. Lol.

Anyway, a funny different one. They didn't close out with Ben catching her on the stand with a lie. Instead, it was an undercover setup that got the killer. Ben, an oddball himself, was kind of a fish out of water in this one and his reactions were hilarious. Love that Ben developed a friendship with Pat and her mother. That was nice. 7/10.

Script and 2 Female Guest Stars belong on Different Show!

Ugh.

This script sure shows the show's writers, in its last season...were getting Tired. Too many Matlock cliches trotted out!

Matlock teams up with an abrasive young woman(Lea DeLaria) to solve the murder of a popular radio DeeJay. However, her abrasiveness repels instead of attracts. Also, Her Italian American family is too TV typical.

One of the suspects ( Melanie Smith) is blatantly sexual..for instance. In her not subtle discussions about sex..and.making Ben very uncomfortable when she asks him to rub suntan lotion on her back..and legs. And she us NOT playing a prostitute.

Ben's uncomfortableness is usually charming, but not here. Again, it's as if he walked onto some other urban based TV show or soap opera!!

There are references to Male strippers, two men in a fluid gender dance club flirting with him. Unrealistic on this particular show.

The clumsy jokes about Ben's suit, the old " spill something on Ben's suit, the unfunny uninteresting abrasive detective, and the creepy woman suspect did not draw me in...then or now.

Didn't enjoy

This episode is a far cry from the Matlock episodes we are used to seeing in the earlier seasons. I actually hated this episode. It was very sexualized and very uncomfortable to get through.

The main suspect shows side boob when asking Ben to put oil on her body. Ben gets hit on by men in a bar. The other officer asks Ben to get in bed with her and it was meant to be weird. I generally just hate season 9 altogether. I'm a very big Andy Griffith (show and the person) and this is just nothing like what I am used to seeing him do. Gross...just gross and cringy.

I'm ready for Hallmark channel to hurry through this season and lost art over with season 1 again.
