- John Stonebrake: [the epilogue. At the Mantis' secret base, John makes a final recording into a tape recorder in his hand] Today, at 3:00 in the afternoon, under a cloudless sky, we laid Miles Hawkins and Leora Maxwell to rest, as I believed they would have wanted. They are side by side. Those who love them know the truth of their heroism. Now, the record is complete. This room under the ocean, and all the secrets it holds, will be sealed. Tonight, I leave for the Orient. It is my intention never to return, but should someone else enter this room and view the record, let it be known that out of one man's pain came a force for good that stood against darkness.
- [He turns to leave. At the light switches, he stops]
- John Stonebrake: And for the rest of my life, I will be proud to say that Miles Hawkins, the Mantis, was my friend.
- [He ends the recording, shuts down the base, and leaves]
- Dr. Miles Hawkins: [Miles and Leora are trapped in the truck that Leora and Taylor came in. The Tyrannosaurus is tearing the truck apart, trying to get at them. Among other things, the fuel line is ruptured, and gas is leaking, and the roof is torn off. Miles has a fuel cell from the Crysalis that he converted into a weapon. He gets it out, turns it on and says his last words] I love you, Leora.
- Lt. Leora Maxwell: [Last words] I love you too.
- [He activates the cell releasing an electricity blast that stuns the creature and detonates the leaking gas, destroying the truck and killing Miles, Leora and possibly the dinosaur]
