- Bored at the terrible film selection (They get "Sahara" week after week and are bored with the selection), Hawkeye and BJ try to get a copy of the notorious film (Sex scenes, adult language), "The Moon is Blue" (BJ read it in the papers that this movie has been banned in Boston). Lt Bannister is the film courier from special services. Bannister is very nervous around the ladies (he joined the army as he thought he wouldn't have to deal with them, but forgot to account for the nurses). He tells BJ and Hawkeye to connect with Major Frankenheimer (Hamilton Camp), who is the head of the special services in Seoul and makes all the movie selections.
BJ and Hawk visit Frankenheirmer in person, who has an air conditioner in his office (got to keep the films cool). Frankenheimer kowtows to authority and has the best movies at hand for the general and visiting senators. Frankenheimer refuses to serve the 4077th as there is nobody on the A list there. BJ and Hawkeye bribe him (with $30), but even then he cant provide the movie "The Moon is Blue", as the distributor in Tokyo Hugo Reneke wont give a print to him and wont even take Frankenheimer's calls. Hugo has the print booked for the foreseeable future. Frankenheimer says that if BJ and Hawkeye can get Hugo to ship the movie to him, he will ship it to 4077th.
Wounded General Rothaker (Larry ward) declares prohibition in camp, after he spends time at the 4077th on account of being wounded in battle. Rothaker didn't like the corpsman having alcohol on his breath when he moved into MASH 4077. So, now the officer's club is off limits (since it is supposed to be operated by staff from the Special Services only), so is Rosie's and the Still from the Swamp has been confiscated. Since it is an order, Potter has no option but to carry it out to the fullest.
Meanwhile I Corps has sent a supply of placebo pills instead of codeine to MASH 4077. They have a week's worth of codeine supply left. Hawkeye starts handing out the placebos to whoever is in trouble. He gives one to Klinger assuring him that it will bring his body temp down (saying that it is a top secret experimental drug), and it does. He gives one to shy and nervous around the ladies GI Bannister (Sandy Helberg), and the GI turns into a debonair with confidence. This GI works in Frankenheimer's office Meanwhile Potter finds out that supply really sent them the codeine tablets.
Klinger is so thankful to BJ and Hawk that he makes a few phone calls to get Hugo to ship a copy to Frankenheimer. But when he gets it, he refuses to release it to MASH 4077, as he has favors to get from generals. BJ and Hawkeye call the GI and ask him to switch the labels between State Fair (the movies scheduled for 4077) and The Moon is Blue. But little did they know that Potter got Rothaker (a General himself) to call Frankenheimer and route the Moon is blue to the MASH 4077. So, the MASH 4077 watch the State Fair.. Eventually the 4077 gets The Moon is Blue, and its the cleanest money they have seen in their life.
