Dean Martin's stand-in is to be Lucy's blind date at the Motion Picture Charity Ball. But when he has to cancel at the last minute, Dino himself steps in to become Lucy's escort - but she is unaware of the switch.
This is a nice change-of-pace episode and probably the best of the "celebrity double" shows that were often done. It was also Ms. Ball's personal favorite episode of THE LUCY SHOW. There are no zany antics for Lucy in this one as her character is demure and more girlish here. Most of the comedy comes from digs at Dino and his persona, and many jokes about drinking. There is a very funny line about Jerry Lewis: "Jerry who?? .... Oh, I remember him."
When Martin makes his first entrance playing the "double" Eddie Feldman, he receives an ovation. But when he makes his second appearance playing himself, the audience reaction is even louder. He receives a third round of applause when he enters in his tuxedo for the dance scene.
Not a laugh-riot, but one of the better Season 4 offerings nonetheless.
