Euro art dealer Hans Koopman (Richard Griffiths) washes ashore looking for new talent and old art. Lovejoy bumps into old mentor Jim Leonard (Dinsdale Landen) and his wife Judy (Annie Lambert).
Their stories intersect when Jim and Judy tell Lovejoy they want revenge on Koopman for something he'd done to Judy's father years ago. For some reason, Lovejoy plays along, and gets Eric, Tink and Lady Jane involved in first selling a Klimt to Koopman, and later pulling the ol' switcheroo on him.
It's a jolly good con and it sets up a fabulou set piece in the dining hall of an old stately barn, complete with white-gloved servant. Tinker is pretending to be Lord Muffleguff. Eric is some kind of landowner. Lovejoy is the art consultant. Lady Jane is, well, Lady Jane.
LIke the best Lovejoy episodes, someone is getting the ol' razzle dazzle, there's a couple of tasty birds, Ian McShane plays it with a wink, and we walk away with a smile.
