A Great Cast And An Old Fashioned Showdown!
hogwrassler3 February 2021
Ace Broderick came to Tumblerock and opened a cafe and gambling hall (not a saloon!). He soon has the town under his thumb and used crooked politicians and lawyer Magill to enforce his evil plans. When Sheriff Brooks gets the goods on him, Ace challenges him to draw at the count of three, but Ace draws on two and .44s the sheriff to death. The sheriff's courageous son, Ted, returns from the east and takes his father's badge. But sneaky Ace wounds him with a hideout gun and has Ted taken to a cabin where he can be held prisoner until he can figure a way to get rid of him permanently. The Ranger and Tonto work with Deputy Tom Crothers to fool Ace into revealing Ted's whereabouts. Once they do, Ace challenges the Masked Man to an old fashioned showdown in the middle of the street to determine who will run the town. Ace is pretty fast on the draw. Who will win the shootout? Note that in the scenes taking place in the cafe, there is card playing and eating going on but nobody has a drink of any kind in front of them. There are only what looks like empty milk bottles on the shelf behind the bar. Nothing that might tempt the youth of the 1950s to engage in drinking alcohol. Beer and whiskey didn't exist in the Lone Ranger Show world. This is an excellent John Hart episode enhanced by a great cast of actors. Steve Brodie is Ace, Paul Birch is Sheriff Brooks, Richard Crane his son Ted. Familiar TV western face Tom London plays Deputy Tom Crothers. Byron Foulger is perfectly cast as the sneaky lawyer Magill. This one is a joy to watch.
