Isn't That The Sky Marshal Of The Universe?
hogwrassler5 January 2021
The town of King Creek has struck gold, literally. Senator Dodd and Gene Sloan have come to town and plan to open a gold stamping mill. Joe and Martha Neal, owners of the town newspaper, are making a lot of cash by selling advertising for the new mill. And many residents are buying stock in the company. But Martha is suspicious and researches other newspapers. She finds proof that Dodd and Sloan are swindlers who have pulled this trick in other towns. Joe and Martha decide to put out a special edition exposing the con game. But the crooks find this out and will try to stop them. Can The Ranger and Tonto intervene? Nan Leslie plays Martha in the fourth of her eight appearances on the LR. Judd Holdren plays Joe. A couple of years later, he would appear as Commando Cody in the TV series/serial "Commando Cody: Sky Marshal of the Universe." Commando Cody wore a mask in the series. The producers reasoned that if Holdren asked for more money, it would be easy to replace an actor whose face wasn't recognizable to the viewers. This was the same theory used by The Lone Ranger producers when they replaced Clayton Moore with John Hart for two seasons. But Moore returned when the producers learned that the viewers wouldn't accept Hart as The Ranger.
