Soooo relatable episode, dedicated to all of us kids who wanted to make BIG BUCKS. Wally is looking for a summer job and comes the opportunity to sell ice cream around the block.
Credit producers Joe Connelly and Bob Mosher for also giving a hard dose of reality in this one. Wally also has to lay out $25 dollars (about $250 dollars today!) for cart insurance AND two extra bucks (about 20 dollars today) for ice? Ouch.
Fortunately, Ward backs him in the venture and off Wally goes, dressed to impress in white.
Not so fast! Beave tags along, and then some more guys... everybody expecting freebees or extended credit? Pretty Cheryl Holdridge makes another appearance, doing what she does best, going for Wally's heart and asking for LOTS of ice cream.
Show me the money!
Beautifully done episode, acting and writing spot on. This was the final appearance of all around good guy Chester, played by Buddy Joe Hooker. Chester always reminded me of one of the BOWERY BOYS, who kind of stayed in the background. Buddy went on to a successful career as a Hollywood stuntman.
Interesting side note, and a super trivia question. Comedian Ann Jillian has a bit role as a little girl. This was her tv debut.
Ann later made several appearances on HAZEL, becoming a tv star in ITS A LIVING.
For all us Wally fans. 10 Stars.
