Beaver asks his parents to buy him a typewriter, and Ward points out that he doesn't know how to type. After its arrival, Beaver diligently attempts to follow its typing instructions, acting like he's never typed before. However, in Beaver's Newspaper (1959), he was knocking out an entire newspaper with Wally's old typewriter.
Ward reminds Beaver about the clarinet he insisted they buy for him, only to end up in its case, untouched after exactly two weeks. But in Music Lesson (1958), Mr Willet lends Beaver the school's clarinet, eventually asking for it back after Beaver fails to make the school band.
When Beaver's teacher writes the note complimenting Ward and June for getting Beaver a typewriter, a close look shows that he just draws quick short lines on the paper.
After Beaver shows the letter from the teacher, Fred Rutherford's car horn sounds, as his parents walk out, the shadow of the boom mike is visible on the top of the front door.
