- For stealing about $40, Johnny had to kill two brothers, one he grew up with. Not able to live with it he decides to quit and leave town, until he meets his replacement, a man who has a reputation thinking the badge comes with privileges.
- While Troop is gone, Johnny tries to arrest a local man, Bill Watts, accused of Stealing $36 and two junkie watches. When the man refuses to give up, Johnny is forced to kill him. Bill's younger brother Jessie, who Johnny grew up with, picks up Bill's gun and forces Johnny to shoot and kill him as well. The stress from it causes Johnny to quit. Troop doesn't want to force Johnny to stay so he hires Harry Jensen but Jensen's rough personality irritates Johnny. When Jensen uses excess force in the Birdcage on two cowhands from a cattle drive, the victims return with several co-workers to teach Jensen a lesson. When Jensen folds under the pressure and Troop is outnumbered, Johnny stops them with the stage driver's shotgun. The stage leaves and Johnny decides to pin the badge back on after picking it up from the ground where Jensen threw it.—Anonymous
- Johnny hears about a petty theft robbery committed by a friend under the influence. When he rides out to his home to talk about it, he's forced to kill him as well as his younger brother. This forces him to think about his future. Dan offers his help but the replacement deputy seems to be fitting in ok. Or is he?—DrDOS
- After killing an old friend and the friend's brother in the line of duty, Johnny resigns as Dan's deputy.
