The living room in the Clausen's home is the same set that was used for Stuart and Sally McMillan's home in McMillan & Wife (1971).
Kojak asks Dr. Clausen if Napoleon won the Battle of Borodino; he says yes, and it led to the capture of Moscow. When he doesn't say is that it ended up being a disaster for Napoleon and led to his downfall, a symbolic foreshadowing for Clausen.
Dr. Clausen and Kojak banter about the battle or Borodino, and Dr. Clausen says that even though he took Moscow "...there was Waterloo waiting for him after that," to which Theo enjoins "So was Josephine." The only problem is that Napoleon divorced Josephine 2 years prior to Borodino.
