Last week a prom, this week a wedding. Above the Top is becoming more of a banquet hall than a restaurant. But this just isn't any wedding - Jan is marrying her Prince Charming with Cassie as her maid of honor, Nancy and Howard paying for the meal as a wedding present, Dot giving the toast and Sonny covering their car in toilet paper and tins cans and writing "Just Married" in spray paint - until he learns he decorated Howard's vehicle by mistake.
Amy keeps picking out tacky wedding gifts, and Dot and Cassie make her exchange them. She eventually refuses - and Jan ends up adoring the gift Amy chose.
When the minister gets pneumonia and doesn't show, Howard ends up marrying the happy couple - but why in the kitchen and not the dining room?
Not one of Classic TV's most memorable wedding episodes - had they still been an ABC show perhaps it would have been different. Who knows? It does have a nice moment where Dot says how she will miss Jan, who assures her "I'm not going anywhere".
Jan's daughter Ellen appears, but she is played by a 10-year-old actress. I guess she was frozen in time, because Ellen was the same age in Season 1 back in 1980. Ellen will appear in Season 5, but with the casting reflecting her proper age.
