At the end, the same newspaper layout is used for the "Wheeling Courier" that was used for "The Tampa Herald" at the end of the "Storm," including the exact same secondary headlines "Giant Plane Found, All Aboard Safe", "Educators Hold Annual Meet Here", "RESTRICTED LOAD BAN MODIFIED ON MAIN ROADS" and an identical photograph just above the fold.
When David and Nick Baxter are being chased by the two aliens they both exit the Ford pickup truck from the drivers side. David leaves the door standing completely open as they run away. When the aliens arrive one of them opens the drivers door which was closed.
Near the beginning, one of the characters, a truck driver, states that it is summer. Yet many of the deciduous trees throughout the episode have no leaves.
When Nick Baxter brings the pickup truck to a sudden stop he stomps the break but does not engage the clutch. Stopping the vehicle in this manner would cause the engine to stall. However after a short conversation he takes off again without restarting the vehicle indicating that the motor had been running the entire time and that it had never stalled out. In addition while David and later Nick are driving there is very little, if any, indication of shifting of the manual transmission.
The pickup truck that the gas station attendant, Robert Sorrells, loans to David, a complete stranger, without even the slightest hesitation appears to be a 1954 Ford. It also appears to be in near mint condition despite the fact that it is 13 years old and is immaculately clean despite it's being used at an old gas station in the hills of West Virginia.
