Storyline
Did you know
- TriviaThe closing act of this episode had a originally different scripted ending. Madam X gets away and all four leads come to the realization that neither Lucy or Ethel was Madame X. The four lovingly come to the understanding that they shouldn't jump to conclusions. Lucy also regretfully informs Fred that Madame X had taken not only his old suit, that Lucy used as a model, but his newly custom made tweed suit that was intended as his birthday gift. Lucy scribes felt that the ending was not funny enough and so reworked into the ending that was filmed in which Ricky comically captures Madame X.
- GoofsBy this point in the series, the Ricardos had moved from the 4th floor down to the third floor, to apartment 3B (which was later changed to 3D), which was next door to the Mertzes. Yet Ethel, upon leaving the Ricardos' apartment with Fred, said they "might come up later."
- Quotes
Lucy Ricardo: Oh, Fred, I didn't know you had a birthday coming up.
Ricky Ricardo: When is it, Fred?
Fred Mertz: Week from Thursday.
Lucy Ricardo: How old are you gonna be?
Fred Mertz: [changing the subject] D'ja hear about the big robbery last night?
Lucy Ricardo: Come on, Fred, don't be bashful, how old are you?
Fred Mertz: Well, now, I'll make a deal. I'll tell how old I am if you'll tell how old you are.
Lucy Ricardo: That was a big robbery we had last night, wasn't it!

Underrated great episode
I consider this one of the best episodes of the show. It's underrated and probably not one people say as classic episode. I love the misunderstandings between the wives thinking the other is Madam X. I think it's a well written episode from start to finish. Anytime I see it I love it more. It deserves more love.
