First flashback episode

Ricky singing There's a Brand New Baby At Our House is touching. Desi actually wrote the song for Lucie Arnaz but in the episode Ricky is singing to Little Ricky.

The premise is okay I don't really find sales resistance funny accept when Lucy tries to sell her vacuum to a neighbor and it didn't work out. I do appreciate the show is poking at the products look promising but they really aren't. It's all about sales. That's it.

Warning: Spoilers
Just so the audience doesn't forget that Lucy just had a baby, the episode (which has nothing to do with the new baby) opens up with Ricky singing a delightful song "There's a Brand New Baby at Our House" which Ricky is planning on taking to the hospital to play for the new mama. We get to see Lucy only through the lengthy flashback sequence which deals with her resistance to turn away sales people, buying a fancy potato slicer that ends up not working then ending up exchanging it for a ridiculously overpriced vacuum cleaner.

The terrific Sheldon Leonard is a bundle of energy as the aggressive salesperson, telling Lucy she doesn't have to keep the potato slicer then giving her a full demonstration of the vacuum cleaner which seems cheap on the surface but ends up being a bundle when you add on all the extras, including the electrical cord. Explaining to Ricky how it happened shows Lucy at her most panicked, and eventually Lucy start selling herself which results in a very funny scene with veteran character actress Verna Felton, whose voice you might recognize as the fairy godmother in Disney's "Cinderella".

It's too bad this episode didn't come before Lucy had the baby or a few episodes after because by presenting the episode as a welcome to baby with the opening song, you expect to see him, and this episode could have been aired at any other time.
