- Alternate versionsPlans originally called for a color broadcast of this episode as "our answer to Peter Pan (1955)," but color television film proved too expensive. However, color photos and home movies of the cast's dress rehearsal still exist. In 2007, they served as a guide for a digitally colorized version of the episode. The colorized version received its first release as a bonus feature on the _"I Love Lucy" (1951)_ complete series DVD.

A clever musical within a show
Just echoing the comments here. If you put aside the usual Lucy storylines and just enjoy this little musical it's really fun.
I like the inside jokes like "henna rinse" and "Xavier MacCougat!" Lots of clever dialogue and catchy songs. I've been singing them since I was a kid.
Vivian Vance and Bill Frawley get the award for acting. They did not like each other but had to share a two-person costume! It was funny how the tune of their lullaby was the British version of Away in a Manger.
Desilu was smart to create the Hollywood, European and Connecticut episodes. It kept the show fresh over the years. I know the show is dated and has stereotypes and all of that but it's still a comforting show for me to watch.
