At the beginning, Capt. Ferguson is waiting to escape. At the end, there is no mention of Capt. Ferguson, or what happened to him. The Capt. Ferguson character does not appear in future episodes, but has not yet escaped.
UPDATE: This is not a goof. Those following the story more closely will note that Ferguson can escape once Klink stops prowling the camp late at night, which Hogan confirms at the midpoint and which occurs by the end of the episode.

In the introduction, after Schultz leaves the barracks, the gang goes down into the tunnel. To open the tunnel under the bunk bed, Kinchloe stamps on the floor twice. The tunnel opening in the floor actually begins opening just before Kinchloe stamps on the floor the first time. It should have stayed closed until the second stamp.
At the start, Capt. Ferguson is down in the tunnel sitting in a recliner listening to a record player. The sound of the record player would have been audible to those up top. when a guard comes into the barracks, he would have heard it.
No, it would not have been heard, just like the guards don't here anything else going on in the tunnels. They are far enough below the surface so that sound isn't heard above.

There are reflections on Klink's bald spot from the production lights.
