Haggard is a comedy set in the Georgian period and had a touch of Blackadder about it.
The first episode has Squire Amos Haggard fallen on hard times. His credit is no good and creditors are after him.
This includes his manservant Grunge who seems to have more money than his master.
Amos ends up getting into an argument with the well to do Sir Joshua Foulacre at a tavern.
Later Amos is reunited with his lusty son Roderick Haggard who plans to have his wicked ways with a young woman called Fanny he has met in a carriage.
Only for Fanny turns out to be Sir Joshua's daughter.
Periodically funny with a straightforward plot. There is a lot of setting up in the first episode and that is done at the expense of humour.
It is a romp with characters talking to the camera. Grunge the manservant is the opposite of Baldrick. He is clever hence why he seems to acquire money which his master takes off him.
