- Riding away from Dodge after a $2800 robbery, four bandits escape into the windy night. With one of them wounded it seems like a three-way split until Pike, the wounded one, surprises the other three.
- One night in Dodge, three men blow up the safe in the Express Office, while Cyrus Pike, the youngest of the bunch, holds the horses outside. While the outlaw gang is working at setting the dynamite, Festus asks Doc for a drink, but Doc says he can't give him an alcoholic beverage, but for medicinal purposes, he can give him a drink. The explosion wakes up the town, so to speak, and Festus, who is the deputy on duty, shoots one of the outlaws twice as they make their getaway on horseback. The outlaw he hits is Cyrus Pike (Dack Rambo), the youngest one holding the horses. Several things happen the next day. Pike and the other outlaws get to their temporary hideout shack. It is a windy, dusty day, visibility is low. The three double cross Pike and are about to leave him in the shack, but Pike brings out a second gun stashed in his boot, and he double crosses his partners, steals the money, spooks their horses, and rides off. Later, he hides the money in a tree, and collapses next to it. "Dirty" Sally Fergus (Jeanette Nolan) and her mule, Worthless are travelling down the road in her wagon looking for glass bottles to clean and sell for money in town. She sees Pike's horse, and Pike laying on the ground. He moans to let her know he's alive and wants help. So Sally finagles him in the back of her wagon and takes her to her home, a shack away from the road with shelves and tables of bottles outside, and all manner of junk, broken furniture, etc. Although one bullet went clear through Pike's shoulder, the other one is still in his left side. Sally removes it, then goes to Dodge to get more laudenum from Doc. She meets with teasing from local school children, sees and lies to Matt about seeing any outlaws, gets a bottle of whiskey from the Long Branch, and finally goes to Doc, for what is a hilarious 'examination' in order to get more laudenum. When she returns home, Pike has left, but he's bleeding. Sally goes searching for him.
