Mr. Natz (Ted Corsica) and Dr. Ratton (Jim Lowes) were last seen in "Back to the Drawing Board". As the brains behind inventing the KAOS robot Hymie (Dick Gautier), they've caught a lot of hell in KAOS circles when they lost Hymie to CONTROL. So now they've invented a new, more powerful robot named Groppo (wrestler Hard Boiled Haggerty!) to destroy Hymie. Max is worried about his friend and gets CONTROL scientist Dr. Harris (Byron Morrow, who played Agent 37 a few episodes before in "The Spirit is Willing") to refit Hymie and tune him up. Then Max, Harris and Agent 42 (Yes, Ed Platt is still missing in action in this episode and 99 is also nowhere to be found) take Hymie out to a CONTROL ghost town (located across the highway from a real ghost town)to get him used to his new springs and ready to face Groppo. Despite the missing Platt and Feldon, this is a good episode thanks to the script by Gary Clarke and the bravura performance by Gautier. Watch the way he lurches around uncontrollably when he gets his new springs. The cold opening works really well and there's also a nice gag with a slingshot. You will believe he really is a robot. There's a minor "High Noon" parody complete with a "Do Not Forsake Me Oh My darling" sound alike cue as Hymie insists on facing Groppo in the hopes of making a friend.
