Glenda Farrell was Jerry Hopper's cousin. Hopper directed 14 episodes of The Fugitive (1963) and had first worked with David Janssen on The Private War of Major Benson (1955).
Ida Lupino, who directs this episode about a beleaguered yet kind man who befriends Kimble and brings him back to work on his family's ranch, also starred in the 1947 film "Deep Valley" playing a naive farm girl who similarly aids and shelters a fugitive played by Dane Clark.
The sheriff, who incarcerated Kimble along with Jack Weston's character, has a cat named Dillinger named after the notorious bank robber of the early 1930's.
Davey's family's ranch is located in the fictitious city of Ellsmore, Kentucky; however, there is a city in Kenton County, Kentucky named Elsmere.
This is the first of four appearances Vaughn Taylor makes in the series, the other three appearances occurring in Runner in the Dark (1965), Three Cheers for Little Boy Blue (1965), and Joshua's Kingdom (1966).
