Uncle Phil's parents come over and tell some stories about his childhood. He is also to receive an award and as a journalist comes over for an interview all his achievement stories seem boring to her and she thinks of cancelling the story . But Will tells her about his childhood which makes the press. Uncle Phil is ashamed of this even though he really shouldn't be.
I loved this episode. Uncle Phil was not a negative character but the stories about his childhood and Merlin the pig add so much more to his character. So it is wonderful they made this story in the beginning of the show. And the episode is a great combination of humor and emotions. I also like how uncle Phil wanted to seem like somebody who struggled through his life, which he did, but at the same time he had it better than many because he had those loving parents who gave him a great childhood which also created his personality to be a great fighter for civil rights. And he gets it in this episode acknowledging them.
