When the hick sits down on the log next to Will and says "I hear you like to dance" a short clip of "Dueling Banjos" is played. That song was written for the film Deliverance (1972) about a less than comfortable stay in the South. In another reference to the 1972 movie, in this episode Will and the family are relocated to Deliverance, Alabama.
When Will and the hitman are having their showdown, the music playing is the theme from the Clint Eastwood classic western The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966).
The rhythm of beatboxing that Will does in the precinct is the same exact sound he does the beatboxing in the mail room in Men in Black II (2002).
James Avery and Brad Garrett were respectively the voices of the Junkyard Dog and Hulk Hogan from Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling (1985) though they did not share a scene in this episode.
