In the opening narration, Carlos outlines examples of Sister Bertrille interfering with his romantic dates in a series of flashbacks. She once again messes up a date, this time with the lovely Elena (Lisa Gaye, "How to Marry a Millionaire"). Carlos cancels taking some of the convent's children for a boat ride, secretly in favor of yachting with Elena in Culebra. He instead tells Sister Bertrille his uncle Antonio Ramirez (character actor Henry Corden) and Aunt Constancia (Athena Lorde) are in rough financial times and he is going to talk them into moving into an empty house he owns. Amid tears and crying he hugs the children and gives them some money to buy something nice. Little Violetta (Pamelyn Ferdin) is crying for another reason, as she is discovered to have mumps. Carlos is feared to be at risk for mumps and must have a shot to avoid an epidemic. Sister Bertrille flies to find him, and tells his uncle and aunt about the plan that isn't true. Now there are two problems at play.
