Al Floss - the personification of 21st century Disney
AlsExGal10 October 2019
Jon Cryer plays the titular Teddy Z in this 30 year old TV show. Al Floss is the buffoon of the show, the equivalent of Herb Tarlek in WKRP in Cincinnatti. Teddy is a new talent agent promoted from the mail room due to a set of weird circumstances, Al is the veteran but incompetent agent. Somebody who wishes to expose the vacuous nature of modern Hollywood brings an altered script of "Mr Smith Goes To Washington" to the agency, specifically Al. The person asks Al what he should do to the script to get it accepted by the studios. Not recognizing the original film, Al suggests adding car chases, explosions, beautiful babes, you get the drift. The result is a scathing newspaper article mentioning Al by name and all of the populist changes he would make to a Hollywood classic.

I thought about this episode today when I read an article about Disney wanting to "re-imagine" the classic Fox titles they now have in their vaults due to their purchase of Twentieth Century Fox. Except Al Floss had no idea what he was doing and Disney does, which makes them all the more guilty.
