- TriviaSeth MacFarlane has a brief cameo as an engineer technician in this episode. MacFarlane is an avid fan of Star Wars and Star Trek and has several ties to Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987) (his favorite of the Star Trek franchise). He is a distant cousin of Denise Crosby; his series American Dad! (2005) regularly features the voice of Patrick Stewart; and many TNG characters have been featured on his animated series Family Guy (1999). This episode was directed by yet another TNG alum, LeVar Burton. Additionally, MacFarlane created a sci-fi series as an homage to Star Trek, The Orville.
- GoofsAt the start of the episode it is stated that the discovery of two dead crewmen accounts for all the missing crew. But during the battle we see at least three crew members ejected into space. These three would have been lost and never found (Ships sensors were out after the attack) meaning the entire crew could never be fully accounted for.
- Quotes
Commander Charles 'Trip' Tucker III: We found Taylor over there, outside her quarters. She was probably trying to get to her station. If she'd made it a few more meters, I wouldn't be trying to write this damned letter. Because every time I start, I hear myself saying what a fine young woman she was, how... how smart, and full of potential. And I realize... that I'm not thinking about Taylor at all. I'm thinking about Elizabeth. So many people dead! I tried not to see her any differently than the other seven million. So I've spent the last nine months, trying to pretend she was just another victim. But she's my sister, T'Pol. My baby sister!

The Fourth Season of Enterprise now is excellent, actually with one long story split in episodes. "The Forgotten" is dramatic, with the loss of eighteen members represented by Taylor and the reluctance of Trip in accepting Degra as an allied, superseded in the very end, when Trip accepts the loss of Taylor an Elizabeth. My vote is eight.
